Most products are mostly water. Water needs emulsifiers to stay mixed, preservatives to stay clean and pH adjusters to stay stable. Reactive skin meets all of it at once.
The Everywhere Balm removes the water, and with it everything the water requires.
What remains is a lipid balm built from the same classes of lipid your barrier is made of. Warmed and applied thin, it sinks in and settles into a fine, breathable layer. That layer reduces transepidermal water loss, which is the mechanism behind tightness, flaking and sting.

Serum or moisturiser first. Let it absorb. Then a thin layer of The Everywhere Balm, last. It sits on top and keeps everything where you put it.
I use it over my regular skin care and it just helps me tolerate actives way better.

Why reactive skin likes less
Your barrier is a lipid structure.
The outer layer of skin holds water in with a matrix of lipids: ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids. When that matrix thins, water leaves faster than it can be replaced. That is transepidermal water loss. Tightness, flaking and sting are what it feels like from the inside.
The Everywhere Balm is built from lipid classes that structure already recognises.
- Jojoba wax esters, close in structure to skin’s own sebum.
- Squalane, the stable form of a lipid skin produces itself.
- Sunflower seed oil, a source of linoleic acid, which the barrier uses to make ceramides.
- Shea butter, carrying plant sterols that help hold the lipid layer together.
Skin-identical lipids do not need explaining to the skin.
Why no water matters.
Water in a formula needs a preservative system, emulsifiers to keep oil and water together, and a pH adjusted to keep it all stable. Each one is a point of contact. Each one is a possible reaction.
Anhydrous means none of that is needed. There is no pH, because pH only exists in water. There is no preservative system, because there is nothing for microbes to grow in.
Why fifteen ingredients.
Every ingredient earns its place or it is out of the tin. Bisabolol to quiet reactivity. Tocopherol to keep the oils fresh. Bakuchiol at 0.5%, within the clinically studied range. It is not retinol, it is not a vitamin A derivative, and it does not convert to retinoic acid. It supports barrier function without the sting that usually arrives with actives.

Why does my skin sting when I apply products?
Stinging usually means a compromised barrier. When the barrier is weakened, actives and even water reach nerve endings they should not, so things that never used to bother you start to burn. Supporting the barrier calms that reactivity.
Is NOOKS suitable for reactive, sensitive skin?
Yes. It is fragrance-free, petroleum-free and preservative-free, formulated to be low-irritant. It supports the barrier rather than treating a condition, which is what reactive skin usually needs.
Will it sting when I put it on?
It is designed not to. There is no fragrance, alcohol or essential oils, the common triggers. If your skin reacts easily, patch test on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours first.
