The product
What is The Everywhere Balm?
The Everywhere Balm is a 60g anhydrous barrier balm made with 15 botanicals. She is petroleum-free, fragrance-free and formulated to be safe on external sensitive skin, including lips, hands, face, friction zones and external intimate skin.
What does anhydrous mean?
Anhydrous means water-free. The Everywhere Balm contains no water phase, so every gram in the tin is lipid, botanical or active. No fillers, no emulsifiers, no preservative system required.
Is The Everywhere Balm a moisturiser?
No. She is a lipid replacement system. Moisturisers add water to the surface of skin. The Everywhere Balm works differently, sealing in the water your skin already holds and reducing transepidermal water loss.
What is barrier care?
Barrier care focuses on the skin barrier, the outermost layer that keeps water in and irritants out. Most visible skin issues involve a stressed barrier and elevated water loss, so supporting the barrier addresses the cause rather than chasing symptoms.
What is transepidermal water loss (TEWL)?
Transepidermal water loss is the rate at which water evaporates through the skin barrier. When the barrier is compromised, TEWL rises and skin becomes dry, tight, reactive and easily irritated. The Everywhere Balm is formulated to reduce TEWL.
Where on the body can The Everywhere Balm be used?
Anywhere external. Lips, face, hands, cuticles, elbows, knees, heels, friction zones and external intimate skin. Yes, even there. She is designed for external use on intact skin.
Why one balm for the whole body?
Because skin everywhere shares the same barrier structure. The formula is built to be gentle enough for the most sensitive external areas, which makes her suitable for everywhere else by default.
What size is The Everywhere Balm?
60g, in a recyclable aluminium screw-top tin. A little goes a long way, so one tin covers months of everywhere use. No plastic pump, no airless chamber, no waste you cannot recycle.
Is The Everywhere Balm fragrance-free?
Yes. No added fragrance, no flavours, no masking scents. The only scent is a faint natural shea note that fades within a minute. Nothing performative, nothing to irritate reactive skin or sensitive noses.
Is The Everywhere Balm petroleum-free?
Yes. There is no petrolatum, mineral oil or paraffin in the formula. The occlusive and emollient work is done by botanical lipids and waxes.
Formula and ingredients
What ingredients are in The Everywhere Balm?
The full ingredient list is: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Calendula Officinalis Extract, Cera Alba, Squalane, Althaea Officinalis Extract, Plantago Major Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Laurate, Leptospermum Scoparium Oil, Bakuchiol, Bisabolol, Helichrysum Italicum Extract.
How many botanicals are in the formula?
15. Every ingredient is there to work, not fill space.
What is bakuchiol and how much is in the balm?
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived active, included at 0.5%, within the clinically studied range. It is the one percentage we disclose, because it matters.
Is bakuchiol the same as retinol?
No. Bakuchiol is not retinol, not a vitamin A derivative, and does not convert to retinoic acid in the skin. It is a structurally unrelated plant molecule studied for comparable skin benefits with lower irritation.
Is The Everywhere Balm vegan?
No. The formula contains beeswax, which provides structure and thermal stability. A vegan formula is not currently in the range. If you would like to be notified if that changes, email hi@nooksbalm.com.
Where does the squalane come from?
The squalane in The Everywhere Balm is olive-derived. It is a skin-identical lipid that drives fast absorption and the soft-matte finish.
Does The Everywhere Balm contain nuts?
The formula contains shea butter, which comes from the nut of the shea tree. Shea is rarely associated with allergic reactions, but if you have a tree nut allergy, patch test first and speak with your doctor if unsure.
Does The Everywhere Balm contain essential oils?
One, at a very low level. Manuka oil is included at 0.6%, chosen as a low-dose botanical that does not create scent, warming or tingling. There are no fragrance oils and no aromatic essential oil blends.
Does The Everywhere Balm contain preservatives?
No. Because the formula is anhydrous, there is no water for microbes to grow in, so no preservative system is needed. Use clean, dry fingers when scooping.
Does The Everywhere Balm contain silicones, parabens or sulfates?
No. No silicones, no parabens, no sulfates, no synthetic fragrance, no dyes and no petrolatum.
Is The Everywhere Balm non-comedogenic?
We have not run comedogenicity testing, so we will not claim it. The formula is built on fast-absorbing, lightweight lipids like squalane and jojoba rather than heavy occlusives. Individual skin varies, so patch test if you are congestion-prone.
Why is there no water in the formula?
Water in a formula dilutes it, requires preservatives and emulsifiers, and evaporates on application. An anhydrous formula delivers lipids and actives without any of that. Your skin supplies the water. She keeps it there.
What does bisabolol do?
Bisabolol is a calming botanical active, included at a low level for comfort on sensitive and reactive skin. It is one of the reasons the balm feels quiet on skin that reacts to everything else.
What does calendula do in the formula?
Calendula is a soothing botanical, delivered as an infused sunflower oil. It supports comfort on dry, stressed skin and has a long history of use on sensitive skin.
Why is there beeswax in the formula?
Beeswax gives the balm structure, thermal stability and its protective film on skin. It is why she holds her texture in an Australian summer and still scoops easily with a fingertip.
How to use
How do I apply The Everywhere Balm?
Scoop a small amount with a clean, dry fingertip, warm it briefly between fingers, and press or smooth it onto skin. She spreads easily, so start small.
How often can I apply it?
As often as needed. The formula is designed for reapplication without residue build-up. Most people apply once or twice daily, and more often on lips or hard-working hands.
How much should I use?
Less than you think. A pea-sized amount covers both hands. The balm is concentrated, so a 60g tin lasts a long time with daily use.
How long does it take to absorb?
60 to 90 seconds. She settles to a soft-matte finish with no gloss and no heavy film, so you can dress, type or touch your face without leaving a trace. This is the line between a balm that works and a petroleum layer that just sits there.
Can I wear it under makeup?
Yes. Apply, allow 90 seconds to settle, then apply makeup as usual. The soft-matte finish sits well under base products.
Can I use it with retinoids or exfoliating acids?
Yes. Apply The Everywhere Balm last, over the top. She seals your routine in and supports the barrier that actives can stress. Many people use her specifically to buffer retinoid dryness.
Should I use it morning or night?
Either or both. Morning for protection through the day, night for barrier support while you sleep. There is nothing photosensitising in the formula.
Can I use it for slugging?
Yes, as a petroleum-free alternative. Apply a thin layer as the final step of your evening routine to reduce overnight water loss. Unlike petroleum slugging, you get botanicals and actives along with the seal.
Can I use it on my lips?
Yes. She is formulated to be safe on lips, and the near-neutral scent means no flavour and no taste beyond a faint natural note.
Can I use it on hands and cuticles?
Yes. Hands are one of the most common uses. The 60 to 90 second absorption means you can get back to your keyboard without greasing it.
Can I use it after shaving?
Yes, on intact skin. She is designed to calm the feeling of freshly shaved skin without stinging. Avoid application on nicks or broken skin.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes. Use a thin layer on dry areas, or all over as a final sealing step. If you are congestion-prone, start with targeted application and patch test first.
Can you use too much?
You cannot harm your skin with more, but a thick layer takes longer to settle. A thin layer does the same barrier work with a better finish.
Can I travel or fly with The Everywhere Balm?
Yes. She is a solid balm, not a liquid, so she is carry-on friendly and will not count against your liquids allowance. The 60g tin is compact enough for a bag or pocket.
Do I need to patch test?
If your skin reacts easily, patch test first. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm, wait 24 hours, and check for any reaction before wider use. She is formulated to be low-irritant, but sensitive skin appreciates the courtesy.
Skin states
Is The Everywhere Balm suitable for eczema-prone skin?
Yes. She is formulated to be suitable for eczema-prone skin, with no fragrance, no water phase and no common irritants. She is a cosmetic, not a medicine, so keep any prescribed treatment plan in place.
Does it treat eczema?
No. The Everywhere Balm is not a treatment for any medical condition. She supports the skin barrier and reduces water loss, which is why people with eczema-prone skin often keep her close. For active flares, see your doctor.
Can I use it if I have rosacea?
The formula is designed for sensitive, reactive skin, and some customers with rosacea-prone skin have shared their experiences in our reviews at nooksbalm.com/pages/reviews. She is not a rosacea treatment. Speak with your doctor about managing the condition itself.
Can I use it if I have psoriasis?
She is a cosmetic balm for dry, stressed skin, not a psoriasis treatment. Many people with dry, flaking patches use barrier balms for comfort on intact skin. Keep your medical care in place and check with your doctor if unsure.
Can I use it while on Roaccutane or isotretinoin?
The Everywhere Balm is designed for the dryness Roaccutane causes. Lips, nostril edges, hands and face are the usual targets. She does not treat acne and does not interact with your medication. Follow your prescriber's advice.
Is it suitable for sensitive or reactive skin?
Yes. The formula was built for sensitive skin first. No fragrance, no essential oil blends, no water phase, no preservatives, and internal testing on the most sensitive external areas of the body.
Does it help with dry patches?
Yes. Dry patches are usually a local barrier issue with elevated water loss. Applied to intact skin, she seals the area and reduces that loss, which is the mechanism behind softer-feeling skin.
Can I use it for chafing and friction?
Yes. She creates a low-friction protective film on areas that rub, including thighs, underarms and waistbands. Apply before activity and reapply as needed.
Can I use it on windburn and chapped skin?
Yes, on unbroken skin. Chapped lips, wind-exposed cheeks and knuckles are core uses. If skin is cracked open or bleeding, let it close before applying.
Is it suitable for menopause-related skin dryness?
Yes. Falling oestrogen reduces skin lipids and increases water loss, which is exactly the problem a lipid replacement system addresses. She replaces lipids and seals in water on face, body and external intimate skin.
Does it help rough bumpy skin like keratosis pilaris?
She can soften the feel of rough, dry patches by reducing water loss and replacing lipids. She is not a treatment for keratosis pilaris and does not contain exfoliating acids.
Can I use it after waxing?
Yes, once the skin is calm and intact. She is designed not to sting on freshly hair-free skin. Avoid application if the skin is broken or weeping.
Can I use it on broken or open skin?
No. The Everywhere Balm is for intact skin only. She is a cosmetic, not a wound care product. Let broken skin close first, and see a doctor for anything that is not closing on its own.
Can I use it on tattoos?
From week two onward, once the skin has fully closed. She is not for fresh tattoos or open skin. On healed tattoos she is popular for keeping the area supple.
Intimate and sensitive external skin
Can it be used on intimate skin?
Yes, externally. The formula was tested on the most sensitive external skin on the body and is designed to apply without stinging, warming or tingling. External use on intact skin only.
What does mucosal-safe mean?
It means the formula was designed and tested to be comfortable near delicate mucosal margins, like lips and external intimate skin, without irritating ingredients such as fragrance, menthol or drying alcohols. It does not mean internal use.
Is The Everywhere Balm a lubricant?
No. She is a barrier balm for external skin comfort, not a personal lubricant. A dedicated NOOKS lubricant range is in development under its own safety and regulatory framework.
Is it safe to use with condoms?
No. Like all oil-based products, she can weaken latex and polyisoprene condoms and should not be used with them or with latex barriers. Use a purpose-made lubricant instead.
Does it treat thrush or fungal irritation?
No. She has no antifungal function and is not a treatment for any infection. If you suspect thrush or a fungal issue, see your pharmacist or doctor first.
Can I use it for comfort after friction or intimacy?
Yes, on external intact skin. She is designed to calm the feel of friction-stressed skin and reduce further rubbing. If irritation persists or worsens, check in with a doctor.
Can it be used on the external anal area?
Yes, externally on intact skin, for dryness and friction comfort. She is not a haemorrhoid or fissure treatment. Anything painful, bleeding or persistent belongs with a doctor.
Is it safe if a small amount is ingested from the lips?
The formula is designed for lip use, where trace ingestion is unavoidable, and contains no ingredients of concern at those amounts. It is not a food. If a large amount is swallowed, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 in Australia.
Babies, kids, pregnancy and breastfeeding
What age is The Everywhere Balm suitable from?
Age 2 and up, on intact external skin.
Can I use it on a baby under 2?
Our formal guidance is 2 and up, and that is a conservative call, not a safety warning. There is no evidence of harm. One gentle plant-derived active, bakuchiol, has not been studied long-term on infant skin, so we hold the line at 2 rather than guess. If you choose to use her on a younger child, that is at your discretion. Patch test first, keep to intact external skin, and keep her away from little mouths, since she is made with lip-safe ingredients but is not a food. If you are unsure, your GP, pharmacist or child health nurse is the right person to ask.
Why 2 and up rather than from birth?
Infant skin is still developing and absorbs differently, and bakuchiol lacks long-term infant data. That is a data gap, not a known risk, and we would rather be precise than casual about it.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Yes, for external use on intact skin. Nothing in the formula is contraindicated for external use in pregnancy. If you have specific concerns, your midwife or GP is the right person to ask.
What about bakuchiol during pregnancy?
Bakuchiol is not retinol, not a vitamin A derivative, and does not convert to retinoic acid. The caution some people have seen online reflects limited pregnancy-specific data, not known harm. At 0.5% in an external balm, we are comfortable recommending her in pregnancy, and your midwife or GP can advise on your situation.
Can I use it while breastfeeding?
Yes, externally on intact skin. She is fragrance-free and free of ingredients of concern for external use while breastfeeding.
Can I use it on nipples while breastfeeding?
Yes. Apply after a feed, and cleanse the area before the next feed so your baby is not ingesting product. If nipples are cracked, bleeding or infected, see a lactation consultant or doctor rather than a balm.
Can it be used in the nappy area?
Yes, as a soft barrier on intact skin for mild redness, rubbing or dryness in children 2 and up. She is not a nappy rash treatment and has no antifungal function.
What if a nappy rash looks fungal, broken or is not settling?
See your pharmacist, GP or child health nurse. Bright red rashes with satellite spots, broken or weeping skin, or any rash that persists needs proper care, not a barrier balm.
My child licked some. What should I do?
A small taste is nothing to panic about. The formula is made for sensitive external skin, including lips. Wipe their mouth, offer water and monitor. If a large amount is eaten, call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 in Australia.
Can kids use it for eczema-prone skin?
Yes, from age 2, on intact skin. She is suitable for eczema-prone skin and free of fragrance and common irritants. Keep any treatment plan from your child's doctor in place.
Can kids use it on lips and cheeks in winter?
Yes, from age 2. Chapped lips and wind-nipped cheeks are exactly the kind of intact-skin dryness she is made for.
Texture, scent and stability
What does The Everywhere Balm feel like?
A soft barrier veil rather than a glossy ointment. She scoops easily, spreads without dragging, settles within 60 to 90 seconds and finishes soft-matte.
What does it smell like?
Near-neutral. A faint, natural shea note that fades after application. No added fragrance, no herbal or medicinal scent.
Is it greasy?
No. The formula is built on fast-absorbing lipids like squalane, jojoba and caprylic/capric triglyceride. Any initial slip settles within about 90 seconds with no residue build-up on reapplication.
Will it stain clothes or sheets?
She is formulated to be low-colour and is designed not to stain under normal use. As with any balm, allow her to settle before dressing, and use a thin layer on areas that contact fabric.
Is it sticky?
Mild tack for under a minute at most, then gone. No heavy film, no build-up on reapplication. She grips long enough to protect, then disappears into the skin.
What happens if it gets hot?
Like all anhydrous balms, she softens in heat and firms again when cool. This does not affect performance. If she has fully melted in a hot car, let the tin cool flat and undisturbed and the texture will reset.
How should I store it?
Lid on, cool and dry, out of direct sun. No refrigeration needed. Use clean, dry fingers to keep the water-free formula pristine.
What is the shelf life?
Check the base of your tin for the period-after-opening and batch details. Anhydrous formulas are inherently stable because there is no water for microbes to grow in. Vitamin E in the formula protects the oils from oxidation.
Does it melt in summer or in a hot car?
She softens in heat and firms again when cool, like any anhydrous balm, with no loss of performance. If she fully melts in a hot car, let the tin cool flat and undisturbed and the texture resets.
How she compares
How is it different from petroleum jelly?
Petroleum jelly is a single-ingredient occlusive. It seals, and that is all it does. The Everywhere Balm seals while delivering 15 botanicals, skin-identical lipids and studied actives. Petroleum jelly is the floor. She is what the ceiling looks like.
How is it different from water-based barrier creams?
Water-based creams are mostly water, which needs emulsifiers and preservatives and evaporates on application. She is anhydrous, so the whole tin is functional. They add water to skin. She keeps your skin's own water in.
How is it different from a regular lip balm?
Most lip balms are wax and flavour. She is a full barrier formula that happens to be safe on lips, along with everywhere else external. One tin replaces the drawer of single-purpose sticks.
How is it different from pawpaw ointments?
Most pawpaw ointments are petroleum jelly with a small amount of fermented pawpaw. She is petroleum-free and built entirely from functional lipids and botanicals.
Do I still need a moisturiser?
That depends on your skin. She can be used alone on normal to dry skin, or as a final sealing layer over a hydrating product when skin needs water added as well as kept in.
Can I layer it over serums or hyaluronic acid?
Yes, and you should. Humectants like hyaluronic acid pull water to the surface, where it can evaporate. Sealing them with The Everywhere Balm keeps that water where you paid for it to be.
Why does it cost more than a pharmacy occlusive?
Because she does more. A basic occlusive seals and stops there. Every ingredient in this formula is there to work, from olive-derived squalane to bakuchiol at 0.5%. Per gram of active formula, the comparison flips.
Buying and brand
Where can I buy The Everywhere Balm?
At nooksbalm.com. She is sold direct so the formula stays exactly as intended, with nothing marked up through a middle shelf. Check the store locator for any stockists near you.
Where does NOOKS ship?
Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada. Australian orders are dispatched from Melbourne. Shipping timeframes and costs are shown at checkout.
Where can I read customer reviews?
At nooksbalm.com/pages/reviews. Reviews there include experiences from customers with sensitive, eczema-prone and reactive skin.
How do I contact NOOKS?
Email hi@nooksbalm.com. A real person reads it. You can also find us on Instagram at @nooksbalm.
Who is NOOKS?
NOOKS is an independent, founder-led barrier care brand. The philosophy is simple. Most visible skin issues trace back to barrier dysfunction, so we work on the barrier rather than chasing symptoms.
Is The Everywhere Balm a cosmetic or a medicine?
She is a cosmetic under Australian regulation, not a therapeutic good. That means she supports and protects skin cosmetically, and does not claim to treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
Does NOOKS make other products?
The Everywhere Balm is the hero product, with Lips and Bits, an intimate and friction-zone balm, coming next. The range grows slowly and deliberately.
How much does The Everywhere Balm cost?
The Everywhere Balm is 39.95 AUD for a 60g tin. One tin replaces a drawer of single-purpose products, so the cost per use lands well below what most people were already spending.
How long does one tin last?
For most people, months. She is anhydrous and concentrated, so a thin layer is all it takes. Daily lip and hand use will run through a tin slower than you expect.
Is The Everywhere Balm cruelty-free?
Yes. NOOKS does not test on animals. The formula does contain beeswax, so she is not vegan, but no animal testing is involved at any stage.
What is your returns or money-back policy?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If your skin is not calmer, you can request a refund within 30 days. Full details are on the Calmer Skin or Money Back page.
Safety
Should I patch test?
Yes, as with any new product. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm and wait 24 hours. Sensible, not scary. The formula is designed for sensitive skin, but every skin is its own case study.
What if I have a reaction?
Stop using the product, wash the area gently, and see a pharmacist or doctor if the reaction is significant or persists. Then email hi@nooksbalm.com, because we genuinely want to know.
Can I use it around my eyes?
Yes, on the external skin around the eye area, such as dry patches near the orbital bone. Avoid direct contact with the eye itself. If product gets in your eye, rinse with water.
Is it safe if my pet licks my skin after applying?
A trace lick of applied balm from your skin is unlikely to be an issue, but she is formulated for humans, not pets. Do not apply directly to animals, and ask your vet if your pet has eaten a meaningful amount.
Can I use it on sunburn?
On mild, unbroken sunburn, she can support comfort once the initial heat has settled. Do not apply to blistered or broken skin. Significant sunburn, especially in children, needs medical advice.
Where can I ask a question that is not answered here?
Email hi@nooksbalm.com or message @nooksbalm. If it is a medical question, your doctor or pharmacist should be the first stop, and we will always say so. </w:pBdr><w:spacing w:before="500"/></w:pPr><w:r><w:rPr><w:rFonts w:ascii="Arial" w:cs="Arial" w:eastAsia="Arial" w:hAnsi="Arial"/><w:color w:val="5A5656"/><w:sz w:val="18"/><w:szCs w:val="18"/></w:rPr><w:t xml:space="preserve">End of FAQ set. 100 entries.
